You should NOT pump until your baby is born. You don’t need to stimulate your milk or your breasts. If you want to test the suction on your pump stick it to your leg or your husband’s stomach lol.. that’s what I did. Of course it’s gonna hurt, you’re trying to pull out something that isn’t really there, and your nipples have not been toughened up from nursing.

Nipple stimulation can cause preterm labor! If I were you I’d put that pump away until after you give birth!!

AFTER I had my daughter (at 28 weeks mind you) it did hurt pretty bad, but it got better after time!

I used mine the day my baby was born, in the hospital, because she wouldn’t latch. It didn’t hurt me at all though. I must have tough nipples ha ha.

i had two full-term babies, and the pump was uncomfortable, but it was much better after my milk came in… then it was more of a relief to get the milk out! dont worry, you will get used to it pretty quick.

Wow I didn’t get colostrum until my babies were 2 days old. I rented a pump at the hospital and also used my own, it hurt so bad. Also you shouldn’t stimulate your nipples too much, it could cause preterm labor.

Do NOT pump until the baby is born. First off, you’ll waste the colostrum that the baby will need after birth, and secondly, it can cause preterm labor. Nipple and breast stimulation will cause preterm labor.

To answer your question: I gave birth 4 weeks early (not due to nipple stimulation though) and when I first used the pump it was slightly painful, but you get over it and it’s not cause for you to stop. I mean, what’s a little more pain after you just gave birth? More importantly, the slight pain at first is well worth it in the end epecially since it’s best for your baby.

I wasn’t prepared with a pump at the hospital. I was producing so much milk and all my baby wanted to do was sleep! I’d wake her up to feed her, and five minutes later she’d be passed out. Honestly, the worst pain of the entire labor and delivery process was after–when my boobs felt as hard and heavy as bricks. I was in so much pain I cried and cried until my husband went to Target and bought a pump for me probably just like yours. It was such a relief. That thing was my best friend the whole year and a half I nursed. I always had lots of extra milk and I never had to suffer with full breasts. It helped me out so I could actually get a job and get out of the house a little!
