I bought this item after having the tommee tippee (TT) manual pump. With he TT pump I can get about 2 oz milk in 20 mins, but due to a design fault milk leaks back out the breast cup and you loose a significant amount. The Avent pump looked better in design. However, it has many more parts (about 7)then the TT pump (3 parts) and the small valve is tricky to insert and as you have to do it with your fingers it reduces sterility. I found suction to be much much poorer in Avent then TT and I had to really press the cup on my breast and at the same time lean forward quite a lot (other wise milk gathered under the petal massage insert). The instructions say you should get 2-4 oz milk in 10 mins, but I got 1/2 oz in 40 mins, despite having a fast let down. The breast cup is smaller than with he TT pump and this adds to the difficulty in maintaining suction. All in all very dissapointed with this, expected much more from Avent. Waste of money as hand expression is quicker and can get more out.
