I want to express milk, but am unsure on how good electric breastpumps are?

I used a hand held Avent pump for my son, but seeings as I’ll have a 3 year old as well as a newborn I thought I’d look in to an electric pump. They are very expensive, so I wondered about hiring services. Has anyone had an experience with this to give me some direction?

I had a Medina electric one but I preferred my avent hand held pump, and I found that I could do it just as fast.
Good luck
Your maternity hospital should be able to tell you if and where you can hire an electric breast pump. I had to use a hand held one for 6 weeks, until my son got out of hospital, so I know how time consuming they are. An electric one would be much better.
My daughter-in-law said it was excellent. Used it with both her babies.
Why cant you just use your hand held? You can still chase a toddler with one… I think they work just as fast as the electric models. Theyre easier to clean, cheaper, and you’re not stuck to the wall while using one.
I bought a Medela backpack breast pump. It is fantastic! It is the very best investment ever! A friend of mine got one on Ebay for alot cheaper than I paid, but I was able to pump so much that I got to stop when my daughter was 8 months old and she had breastmilk until she was 12 months. FANTASTIC! Totally recommend it…
an electric one doesnt really offer you any advantages over a hand held one. I used an electric one in the hospital and found it more uncomfortable then the hand held one I used at home. It still takes the same time, you have just as much to clean and sterilise plus you have to set it up each time unless you have a locked room away from your 3 year old.
