I just bought the Medela Pump In Style double pump and I was wondering how long would it take to build up my milk supply. I just tried it now and expressed about 1 oz all together and I was excited. When I used my Avent Isis manual I only get drips and drabs. I am trying to get 9 week old to have breast milk exclusively, and off formula for good. I have to supplement for now.
Blair- I do nurse on demand when I am home. I work full time, that is why I am asking this question. Also, I am not sure if my baby is getting enough and is satisfied, or she just falls asleep cause she is tired from nursing at my meager milk store.

I have an electric breast pump, used it for 8 months now and it’s annoying, loud and not as efficient as it was in the beginning. Originally I bought the Gerber manual pump, it was useless and I threw it away after only two weeks. I’d like to go back to manual for ease of use, less noise.
The Target close to me has the Avent ISIS regularly .00 marked down to .00! Perfect opportunity to switch to manual but I’d like opinions on that particular pump since I had such a terrible experience with my first manual pump. Thanks in advance!

My daughter is 1 month old and I’m going to be going back to work in a few weeks and want to continue breastfeeding. What breast pump do you like best? There are so many to choose from. Any working moms out there that have been successful pumping at work? Obviously I will have limited time so I want an efficient pump that isn’t too big and not too loud. I had a manual pump with other pregnancies but they take too long. I need an electric one. I plan to use the Avent bottles (had previous luck with those). Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!

I have been breastfeeding since my baby was born. She is 8 weeks now and Im still BF at night and pumping as much as I can during the day about every 2-3 hours or so. Sometimes I can pump 2…3 oz and sometimes 4-5 at one time. I am using an Avent manual ISIS but ordered an Avent Duo Electric which should be here next week. How much is a good amount to pump at one sitting? I feel that I should be getting more but I have never breastfed before and not sure if its enough or not.

My wife is confused to choose a breast pump for our 5 month old.
I’m unable to guide her as last time we shopped for a nip shield but it dint fit well and did not serve the purpose.
The problem started when our baby refused to be fed on breast and opted for formula feed. We are paranoid that she might not get the required nutrition as that of breast milk.
Now, there are so many breast pumps in the market, when asked to my baby’s paed she suggested "avent" or "medela". My wife’s nipples are flat and that is where the problem lies.No nip shield work. The cup size is 34 C. We can’t return the product once we buy it. We are damn confused. All we can afford is a manual one, and less messy one.
We came across breast pumps that had a handle to pump nad few had a hollow ball attached to a pipe which connected to the bottle, we had to squeeze the ball like the stress ball to pump. Unlike the handle one. We really do not get the idea which one would be better.
and how many extra bottles to buy to store.
Please suggest a manual and less expensive one.
My request anyone who has this experience answer. I hate to go through cluttered answers and one liners. You are wasting my time and so yours. And i’m serious no jokes please.

I went to the store today to look for a gift ffor a babyshower, I was also scooping for myself. I noticed all the different bottles, Avent (very expensive) i hope for a reason. There gerber bottles, and the disposable ones with the plastic inside. I wonder witch do other mommies recomend? and also what is the best breast pump out there?

Hi,
I am going to have my baby in about 10 weeks and am looking at breast pumps as I intend to breast feed and express also. I have looked at breast pumps and want to use an electric one as it is meant to be quicker and more efficient - but don’t know which one to buy. I’m currently looking at the Avent IQ Isis Uno for about £80 and the Medela Swing Pump for about £80.
Can you tell me if you have tried either and if so what you think of them? I really don’t want to spend that sort of money only to find perhaps I should have gone for a different one!
Thank you v much.

In the beginning, my baby dropped quite a bit of weight when I was breast feeding exclusively. He dropped more than the recommended amount so (per the Dr) I began supplementing with formula. I am now giving him 4-4 ounce bottles a day and then demand breast feed him every 3-4 hours as well. He has been gaining well.
He has been doing great with the Avent Naturally bottles/nipples and switches easily to and from bottle to breast, but the past two days when he is alert and hungry he latches on well, but will latch off after about a minute or two and appears frustrated. He nurses fine when he is sleepy though. I am afraid my breast feeding days will soon be over because of possible nipple confusion.
I think the bonding of breast feeding is awesome and I want that for my baby, but when I pump both breasts I only get enough for a 2oz bottle. Can I return to strictly breastfeeding (so as not to cause nipple confusion) while pumping so little? I have heard conflicting advice.
My baby is 2 months old

I’m gonna breastfeed and pump so I’m using bottles as I want my husband to experience feeding our baby also. Which brand would you recommend? Thanks!
