What kind of bottle do/did you use for pumped breast milk?
I have heard Avent Tempo bottles work well, but I have also heard good things about Dr.Browns. Does anyone have experience with these or others?

Mommies,I discovered something useful todayand i feel it’s worth sharing. When you start pumping, after sometime, dont let the suction go each time like you usually do while pumping.Let each suction be there for as long as you see the milk squirts through the pump. When they start slowing down, then again let go the suction, and start pumping again and don’t let go the suction till the squirts start decreasing again.Towards the end of pumping session, you can pump as you regularly do.I discovered this today and i got same amount of milk in half the time and not to mention half the effort. I hope this tip will help someone. It’s worth losing 5 marks;)

Hi -
I am currently breastfeeding my second child who is just over 5 months old. He has had nothing but breastmilk since birth. I am having trouble expressing milk. I used an Avent pump for my first child but this time around it is very frustrating and I can only seem to get a very small amount out. Therefore, I have not left my son for more than 2 hours in 5 months now!
I have a function coming up next month where I will need to be away from him for one or two feeds - HELP??
Any suggestions, better pumps to use? Can I give him formula instead on the rare occassion I need to leave him in the coming year? I do not want to use formula (no, I am not starting the whole breast vs formula debate) because I am worried that he may not go back to the breast and while I have the breastmilk, I do prefer that is what he drinks.
Any ideas or advice would be great. Thanks.
I’m starting to pump more for my 4 month old son before starting to use formula (as due to Dr’s orders, I am to stop nursing at 6 months). I have been using the Avent pump and bottles, but he is just gumming them, fussing, and not latching at all. I was doing this about a month ago and he latched fine. Please let me know if you’ve had this trouble and what type of bottle you would suggest and why. I would like to go buy 2 types this afternoon to try. THanks!
I know breastfeeding is best, but I HAVE to start a new medication and for the sake of my health, I promised my Dr. that I would stop nursing at 6 months, so I have to find a bottle that he likes.
My baby is now just over 10 weeks old and is mainly formula fed. I started breastfeeding him when he was born but at 4 days old he was diagnosed with jaundice and subsequently hospitalised for three weeks. The doctors said the jaundice could have been caused by dehydration and the method of delivery (ventouse). I therefore started giving him some formula as a top up on the drs advice but it seemed the only way of getting him out of hospital was to give him solely formula. I did have milk in abundance from the word go!
I have been trying to increase my breastmilk supply again with the aim of feeding him exclusively this way. I am having trouble, however, increasing the supply. I have been using a breast pump, hand expressing, taking fenugreek, massaging in a warm shower and having him to the breast regularly but I still can only get 10 mls if I am lucky! Even having a "baby moon" where I stayed at home for a couple of days and feed him constantly has not worked and he has now started fussing and pulling away from the breast too!
Does anyone have any ideas of how to increase my supply again please? I am also wondering if the Avent pump I am using is really up to the job as I can pump hardly nothing despite putting it on directly after baby has fed and keeping myself near him as suggested!
I had my son on saturday feb 13th..
i tried to breastfeed him a few times but he wouldn’t latch on
i had a c-section which made it difficult for me because i was in pain & to make it worse when i got the epidural it messed up some of my nerves on one of my legs so i was in pain not only for the surgery but for my leg as well
im getting better & i really do want to breastfeed him
but i try & he cries & i don’t have the heart to not feed him for hours so he can latch on
I’ve been dripping a lot so im thinking the milk is there
i sent my husband to buy me a manual phillips avent pump so i can pump the milk out & give it to my son
will i be able to pump milk out even though it’s been almost a week that i had my son?
i really do want to breastfeed him but i do not have the patience to hear him cry & scream because he wants to eat
so i rather just pump it out at first & maybe he’ll want to latch on when i get him used to breastmilk

I have been trying to express breast milk for a couple of days now after deciding I regretting not giving breastfeeding a go. I am not comfortable with the idea of breastfeeding in public so I want to exclusivly provide pumped breast milk. I got the manual Avent pump yesturday and have been pumping every couple of hours. As of yet I have only managed about 1/2 an ounce in total each time I pump. I understand this is to be expected as I have never breastfed, but wondered how long it takes on avaerage to be producing a full milk supply.
Also I seem to have more luck out of my right breast then the left, which is now becoming sore and cracked after just one day of pumping, are there any tips on how to increase my milk supply?
Thank you in advance
